From the early inception of MicroTCA, CorEdge Networks has been a key contributor. Working closely with other members of the PCI Industrial Computer Manufacturers Group (PICMG), CorEdge was a leading contributor to the MicroTCA specification. In addition, CorEdge Networks delivered on its promise to develop the key infrastructure components for MicroTCA solutions. This resulted in several industry firsts including the first functional MicroTCA Carrier Hub (MCH), the first functional Power Module (PM), the first PicoTCA platform, and the first 10Gbps demonstration in a MicroTCA environment.

Within 4 months of the first draft of the MicroTCA specification,
CorEdge Networks was demonstrating the initial revision of
its MCH at Supercomm.
CorEdge has continued to build upon its leadership position
by adding more capabilities and features to the MCH
including a family of clock and fabric modules. The management
functions supported by the MicroTCA
Carrier Management Controller (MCMC) of the MCH have also
been expanded and improved over time with new feature development
continuing.
The Power Module,
which operates closely with the MCH
carrier manager in order to distribute and manage power
to individual AMCs, is another key component of a MicroTCA
system. CorEdge’s PM provides management and payload
power for up twelve AMCs, two cooling units, and two MCHs.
Its flexible architecture enables CorEdge to quickly expand
upon its initial offering and add new features and functionality
to its family of power modules.
Both the MCH and PM are compliant with the PICMG MicroTCA Specification R1.0 adopted in July of 2006.
